That was quite impressive, you used very "weak" pokemon and defeated ubers with them, quite an impressive feat. Your opponent made a lot poor decisions like taunting your Unkown. A few moments made me think you were battling a cpu and not a real player, however I know this isn't the case. Other than it being a boring stall war, it was fun to watch.

As a side note, I've taken up a personal oath (along with my cute adorable girlfriend) to not witness any more pokemon news. So that we do not get spoiled on any new species. I want to attack wild pokemon and be like "what? how come it's resisting my move?" Makes the game more interesting. Anyway, this means I am no longer going to visit the news thread and please do not post or discuss any new thing about the games on the other threads. Particularly the pkn species themselves. I can't stop you though, you've all got a free will, so don't feel like I'm holding you back.

I have a similar but different resolution: I do want to learn about the Pokemon in advance, but not the characters or plot. It's a bit harder to manage, since I'm looking at announcements and skipping past the character-related parts.

I've been playing random battles on Showdown for a little while, and I'd like to try making an actual team. Anyone have advice for this?

Try making a theme team like weather, or gravity, or even monotype. It's a great way to learn about pokemon you normally wouldn't use and helps narrow down your choices. I recently heard about a type called voltturn that I'm going to look more into but if you want something simple I suggest rain.

Made a Gravity team... any suggestions? It's not doing so great, but I'm not sure if that's the team or my own skill.
